How do I connect QODBC to QuickBooks?

To use QODBC with your QuickBooks company file, you will need to authorise the QODBC application from QuickBooks. This only has to be done once for each QuickBooks company file. To authorise QODBC for connection to your QuickBooks company file you should ensure that:

  • QuickBooks is started and the required company file is open
  • You are logged in to QuickBooks with an “admin” level userid
  • You are logged in to QuickBooks in single user mode

To connect QODBC to the current QuickBooks file do the following:

  1. Click Start > All Programs > QODBC Driver for use with QuickBooks
  2. Click QODBC Setup Screen
  3. Ensure you are on the “General” tab and the following options are set:
  4. Click the “Test Connection to QuickBooks” button
  5. QuickBooks will activate and display the QuickBooks Application Certificate window
  6. Ensure “Yes, always; allow access even if QuickBooks is not running” is selected and click the “Continue” button
  7. The Access Confirmation window will appear.
  8. Click the “Done” button to continue.
  9. QODBC will now complete the connection test and display the QODBC Test Connection window
  10. Click the “OK” button to close the Test Connection window
  11. Click the “OK” button to close the QODBC Driver for QuickBooks Setup screen.
